The Great Eastern Women’s Run 2024 marked its 18th edition with a historic turnout and record-breaking fundraising achievements. Over 12,000 women gathered at the Singapore Sports Hub early Sunday morning, rallying under the theme “Reach for Great.”
This year’s event not only set a new record for participation but also raised an impressive $388,000 to support two charitable organisations: Daughters of Tomorrow (DOT) and the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS).
The 2024 run saw record participation in family-friendly categories, including the 2km “Mummy + Me” and the 100m “Princess Dash,” which attracted over 2,800 participants, primarily young girls aged three to twelve.
These categories are designed to inspire a love for fitness from an early age, bringing together families for a day of bonding and fun.

A Celebration of Family, Fitness, and Community Spirit
The “Mummy + Me” race category, launched in 2017, has grown immensely popular. This year’s edition was fully booked as mothers and daughters donned special race kits featuring Sanrio’s beloved character, Cinnamoroll. These unique touches foster a lively, welcoming atmosphere that encourages fitness for all ages.
Great Eastern’s vision for the GEWR has consistently focused on intergenerational bonding through physical activity, and this year’s turnout in family categories highlights the event’s success in nurturing community ties.
Record Fundraising for Women’s Causes
With $388,000 raised in 2024, GEWR achieved its most successful fundraising total yet. All proceeds are dedicated to DOT and SCS, with Great Eastern’s longstanding support enabling vital initiatives for women in Singapore. DOT provides women from disadvantaged backgrounds with pathways to work, while SCS supports cancer survivors in their recovery journeys.
Contributions came from race entries as well as donations from Great Eastern’s staff, financial representatives, and corporate partners, underscoring the company’s dedication to social impact.
Elite Runners Steal the Show
Adding a competitive edge, the event’s by-invite-only 21.1km half marathon attracted Singapore’s elite female runners. Defending champion Vanessa Lee clinched the title again, finishing in 1:22:24 and improving her previous year’s record.
Runners-up included Goh Shing Ling and Rachel See, with close times of 1:22:50 and 1:23:46, respectively.
Festivities and Fun at the Race Village
Post-race celebrations were held at the Race Village, a lively area where runners could unwind and celebrate their accomplishments. Participants were offered complimentary refreshments and enjoyed various Instagrammable photo spots, while dedicated powder rooms and massage zones provided a chance to relax.
Families and young runners enjoyed a range of activities, from an inflatable obstacle course to a “candy cannon,” ensuring a memorable experience for attendees of all ages.
A Lasting Legacy of Impact and Growth
Since its inception, the Great Eastern Women’s Run has become a platform for empowerment, community spirit, and social change. With record-breaking participation and funds raised in 2024, GEWR once again demonstrated its role as a positive force in Singapore’s community.
Backed by the enthusiasm of participants, the dedication of volunteers, and the support of corporate partners, GEWR has set new standards for participation and community outreach.
