Over 3500 runners participated in the final leg of the Pokka Sports Water TRI-Factor on 04 October. The “TRY NOT HARD” motto for the 2013 campaign inspired everyone to put their best, with local celebrities accompanying the TRI-Factor ambassadors to run the 31.5km route at East Coast Park.
Oakley sponsored three-time Olympian Lee Wung Yew joined in the run and completed alongside Allan Wu, the host of The Amazing Race Asia. A group of runners known as the Yellow Fellows led by actor Randall Tan also finished the event to raise awareness for the battle against cancer.
Alex Ong emerged as men’s champion in the 31.5km Open Category in a remarkable timing of 2 hours 4 minutes and 47 seconds, ahead of second and third position winners Timothy Cosulich and Ewin Teo who finished in 2 hours 9 minutes and 13 seconds, and 2 hours 20 minutes and 21 seconds respectively.
The women’s 31.5km Open Category champion Kaifen Ong had a strong finish, with 2 hours 29 minutes and 12 seconds, with Melissa Tsang and Emma Coultas taking second and third place, with timings of 2 hours 36 minutes and 47 seconds, and 2 hours 50 minutes 39 seconds respectively.
