The 2XU Compression Run 2013 taking place 31 March 2013 will kick start the month-long Daffodil Days campaign by the Singapore Cancer Society. Held in April each year, Daffodil Days is a month-long campaign to raise cancer awareness in the community and also funds for those touched by cancer. The 2XU Compression Run raised S$20,000 for Daffodil Days in 2012, and Race Organiser Pink Apple aims to raise this amount together with the growth of the event.
Since 2011, the 2XU Compression Run has attracted 10,000 runners yearly – and this year, the forth edition of 2XU Compression Run will anticipate 20,000 runners to take part in its various categories, including a 10KM, as well as the all-new 21KM and 5KM.
Bringing in a 21KM Race Category for the first time, Race Organiser Pink Apple Pte Ltd’s Director Mr. Daniel Ng says,
“Running is an increasingly popular sport, and it’s easy to take up. The running community here in Singapore is getting fitter and ever ready to go further – which is why we grow the event together with our runners – those who have started doing 10KM or 15KM with us for the past 2 years.
He also added “With this popularity, we want to do our part to raise the awareness of the cause and do our part to give back to society. The 2XU slogan carries “Human Performance Multiplied”, driving athletes to achieve what they think is unachievable. And this is the spirit we wish to spread to those affected by cancer.”
As part of Singapore Cancer Society’s partnership with the 2XU Compression Run, the Singapore Cancer Society will also tie-in its Charity Athlete programme, where sportsmen and sportswomen alike will have the opportunity to dedicate their passion to a meaningful cause to save lives. Charity Athletes can set up a fund raising home page on Simply Giving to encourage their friends and families to support their cause by making a donation online.
