Sungai lembing is located in Pahang, 45 minutes drive from Kuantan. The small town of Sungai Lembing was built upon a history of tin mining. The mines were among the largest in the world, reaching more than 300km with depth as deep as 700m. The town thrived until the 1980s when world tin prices collapsed. The mines were duly shut down; nevertheless, Sungai Lembing has now developed as a tourist attraction.
The running course will bypass the Sungai Lembing Museum and the entrance of Tin Mines. For this upcoming second edition series, we will add on the course distance up to each loop measuring at 3.5km. There will be 4 categories consisting of 24hours, 12 hours, 6 hours and Group Relay (12H & 6H). For 6 hours category, a participant must complete minimum distance of 35km. The 6 hours, 12 hours and 24 hours run can be approached in several different ways. Many will test themselves to see exactly how far they can run within the given amount of time. Others will use it to run a goal distance in a fully-supported race setting without the worry of deadlines or cut-offs. Others will simply run to see if they can keep moving for that long!
Few participants is expected to run without taking any break during the event. Walk breaks are advised. Runners will also pass through the start/finish area with each loop and will have the chance to stock up on fuel, change shoes or clothing, visit friends, etc. Support crew may set up personal “support stations” near the start/finish area. Expect a party-like atmosphere as you come around each loop with support personnel ready to get you whatever you need. There will be an abundance of hot and cold food of many different varieties to keep everyone full and happy.
