The Sandgate Sunset Run on Saturday, 13 October 2018 is a unique event on Brisbane’s running calendar where teams of runners will do laps of the iconic Sandgate roundabout for 2 hours, while a community festival will add to the atmosphere.
In addition to the main 2 hour relay event, there is a 40 minute “Social Relay”, a juniors relay for ages 10 to 15 for 20 minutes, and a kids dash for kids 9 and under for 5 minutes.
A new race has been added for 2018: the Hot Lap. This event sees competitors run one single lap of the roundabout in the reverse direction. Male and female heats will be held, with the winners going through to the final, where you sprint it out for a cash prize.
The heart of Sandgate will be closed to traffic and come alive with runners and spectators as the sun sets over the bayside suburb. The festival runs from 5pm to 9pm, while teams of runners will get in as many laps around the roundabout as they can, between 6pm and 8pm.
