The inspiration for the annual North East series of running events brought to you by Pasir Ris Punggol and Punggol East Community Sports Clubs (CSC) is aimed to connect participants and runners of different demographics and fitness levels to come together to enjoy a leisurely run or walk.
This year main organiser, Punggol North CSC will be featuring a run route along the scenic Punggol Waterway Park. 80% of the route are flank by reservoirs, waterways, and open waters of Sungei Dekar and Straits of Johore. The park is designed with four themes that cater to visitors of all ages.
The Nature Cove provides a relaxing and scenic view of the Waterway where visitors can enjoy leisure activities at the lawn area. The Recreation Zone features families friendly attractions for water play and sand play with a fitness corner for all ages. The Heritage Zone is where the mature trees and vegetation stretch along the old Punggol Road. The Green Gallery is good for a leisurely stroll and to admire the mature trees which are conserved together with the natural terrain of the park. If you are lucky, you might even get to spot a bevy of mischievous otters along the river bank!
Bridges are also distinct landmarks along the Waterway. So look out for the Adventure Bridge, Wave Bridge, Sunrise Bridge and the iconic Sungei Serangoon and Lorong Halus Bridge.
This year, we introduced a new half-marathon category that will better complement the 10km and 5km runs. We have also introduced a 500m Kids & Parent Run to promote family bonding and to raise the interest towards sport in our younger ones. For this year, runners can also look forward to an attractive goodie bag, complete with a Compressport T-shirt and a unique 2-piece-design finisher medal.
