Striving to challenge the indomitable spirit of a runner, the Starlight ULTRA in Penang seeks to create a fascinating running experience in Penang where individuals can opt to take on an easy Fun Run (7km), a Half Challenge (21km), or the Ultimate Challenge (84km).
A Weekend For All Kinds of Runners
Originally meant to take place in May, the Starlight ULTRA was postponed to 23-24 of August due to the Penang by-election on 25 May.
The planned start and finish for all categories will be at Straits Quay, Georgetown. Participants of the Ultimate Challenge (84km) will tackle the whole perimeter of the island of Penang in a clockwise direction.
The Starlight ULTRA is meant to be a weekend for all people with different capabilities to choose the distance that caters most for their running needs.
Go for the 84 KM Ultimate Challenge Solo or in Teams of Two
Starting on 24 August, the Half (21km) and Fun Run (7km) runners will head towards the northeast, running along Tanjung Bungah & Batu Ferringhi before returning via the same way back to the finish line at the Esplanade.
The 84km Ultimate Challenge is divided into 2 categories where individual can attempt to circle the island SOLO or in a TEAM of 2 persons covering 42km each runner. The route for solo and teams are the same.
With the starting line at Straits Quay, runners will start at 9pm on 23 August, running southwards along the eastern coast of Penang. They will then head westward, where runners in the Team category will hand over to the second runner. Runners will then run northwards past Bukit Pulau before reaching the northern face of Penang island, eventually ending their run back at Straits Quay.
Whether you are taking the Fun Run, the Half Challenge, or the Ultimate Challenge, runners will be in store for a weekend of fun!
The Starlight ULTRA will take place on 23 to 24 August 2014 in Penang, Malaysia.
