The Pocari Sweat Run is back on 8 June for its third edition for 2014! This year, the race sees 2 main categories, the 10km Competitive to target seasoned runners looking to hit a personal best, and a 5km Competitive to get non-runners to pick up the sport and start on a good foot, knowing the importance of hydration and other important factors when running.
Growing Bigger Every Year
In its very first 2012 race in Singapore, the Pocari Sweat Run hit its target participation of 4,000 and sold out within 3 weeks of launch.
The first ever commercial race to be held at the newly launched Gardens by the Bay, this event took runners through a scenic 10km and 5km race around the Marina Bay. Following its success, the 2013 edition attracted 6,500 runners, with this year’s race set to attract 9,000 runners!
SEA Games Gold Medalist Joins The Pocari Sweat Run
Joining the race for the first time as Pocari Sweat Singapore’s Brand Ambassador is Mok Ying Ren, 2013 SEA Games Men’s Marathon Gold Medalist. You’ll have a chance to interact with him, as he will be present to interact with runners and share valuable tips on running.
Support the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Community Charity Fund
The Pocari Sweat Run also supports the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Community Charity Fund, which was founded in August 1995 to improve the quality of life of Tan Tok Seng Hospital’s less fortunate patients. More than S$2 million is disbursed each year, to support over 2,500 needy patient cases, especially the elderly and those who fall through the cracks and are unable to receive help from traditional charitable agencies.
It provides timely and critical help to needy patients and their families, enabling them to access the best care, gain independence, improve their quality of life and help them integrate into the community.
Lots Of Exciting Activities On Race Day
On race day, there will be many activities such as a talk show featuring runners from all walks of life to share experiences on their running history together with a doctor from healthcare partner Tan Tock Seng Hospital to moderate the discussion.
To top it all off, 1 lucky draw winner stands a chance to win a travel package to Japan!
Join the Pocari Sweat Run for a chance to run with Mok himself, and receive unique entitlements of a Pocari Sweat pouch and exclusive towel (to be given at the finish line)!
The Pocari Sweat Run takes place on 6.30am, 8 June 2014 at Nicoll Highway, and registrations are snapping up fast!
