An array of fun-filled activities catering to different interests, including a first-ever outdoor waterfront movie screening experience in the sunset organised by People’s Association Water-Venture (PAWV) was offered at September Fest @ Bedok Reservoir on 8 September, yesterday. About 300 residents from Aljunied Group Representative Constituency (GRC) indulged themselves in a first land-based carnival of programmes by PAWV that included the likes of interactive eco games, fitness workouts, lantern decoration workshop and also gained insights on pets awareness at Bedok Reservoir Park.
Joining neighbours in sharing the joys of the evening carnival festivities were 100 underprivileged residents on ComCare Long Term Assistance from Aljunied GRC. The initiative is part of PA’s ongoing efforts in promoting community inclusiveness and well-being amongst residents in the comfort of their neighbourhood. The event, supported by multiple agencies and corporations was graced by Mr Victor Lye, BBM, Adviser to Bedok Reservoir-Punggol GROs.
Residents joining the carnival witnessed a picturesque sunset before rounding up their fun evening with a unique waterfront movie experience.
“Through such platforms, we hope to create unique waterfront experiences here in Bedok Reservoir Park. Residents do not have to travel far with their families to enjoy a lantern decoration workshop or an outdoor movie experience in the park as we bring such programmes near to their home,”
said Lawrence Ng, Chairman Water-Venture Committee (Bedok Reservoir).
This is our very first land-based carnival and it is part of our ongoing effort to expand our suite of waterfront lifestyle programmes beyond water sports, we have put together a variety of land-based activities for this evening carnival which has something for everyone, from young to old. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or a parent looking for fun activities to do with your children this school holiday, this carnival provides a wonderful opportunity for residents to get to know their neighbours better while engaging in the various interesting and educational activities,
said Norhayati Daud, Assistant Director (Water-Venture).
The community can expect more of such multi-faceted genre of programmes at Water-Venture clubs in the coming months as PAWV continues to work with partners to provide unique waterfront lifestyle experiences for the community.
