600 people with rainbow coloured umbrellas will throng the roads heading to Penang Botanical Garden on 29 June with compassion and strong charitable spirit to provide financial aid to poor cancer patients.
This walkathon is organized by Penang Adventist Hospital, a not-for-profit hospital to raise cancer awareness & togetherness with family and friends for a worthy cause. The walkathon coincides with June’s Cancer Survivor Month, a commemoration of the dear ones who lost their lives to cancer and celebrate the lives of those survived the battle.
Raising Funds for Cancer Patients
The event will kick start at 8.30am, with walkers to be flagged off by CEO of Penang Adventist Hospital, Dr Wesley Toh from the field (Jalan D.S Ramanathan) behind the hospital. The walk would cover a distance of 4.5km from the field to Penang Botanical Garden, looping back for an approximately 90 minute leisurely walk.
The hospital aims to raise RM$250,000 from this event, with all funds collected benefitting the Hospital Cancer Fund to help the poor in need of cancer-related treatments at the hospital. Many philanthropists & corporations have come forward to lend a hand to give a new lease of life to the needy and to support of the hospital’s unwavering 90 years’ mission of “God Heals, We Help”. The contribution so far stands at RM$150,000 and the hospital welcomes more donations from the public and support in participating in the walk or sponsorship in kind.

Walkers can also have a feast of mouth-watering food served at our 20 food stalls during the event day. Food Fair coupons can be obtained at RM$10/coupon each or a booklet at R$M50.
