What would non-golfers be doing in a golf course? With a lot of recent ‘firsts’ on the running scene, we tip our hats to the event organisers’ ingenuity to host Singapore’s maiden golf course run. It will be on Saturday, 19 December 2015, and at award-winning Orchid Country Club (OCC) too!
Following their first collaboration in Casio Nongsa Cycle 2015, an overseas event held in May 2015, Ideas Room Consulting Pte Ltd and Ace Sports Group is back with OCC 3TEN RUN as their second joint project. So why the name “OCC 3TEN RUN”? The figure ‘3’ pays tribute the three premier 9-hole golf courses at OCC, while ‘ten’ refers to the 10 km distance at this mass run.
A golf club can serve more than its primary purpose if one thinks outside the box. Running inside the golf course is a refreshing idea and I believe it will appeal to a myriad of runners.
—Mr Raymond Ng, Director of Ace Sports Group.
5,000 runners are expected to turn up at this out-of-the-ordinary chance to run in a picturesque, manicured green golf courses, overlooking the tranquil waterways of Sungei Seletar Reservoir. Flag off will be in a series of waves from 7:30 p.m. for the Open Category (Men’s and Women’s Divisions). There is also a fun and leisure category for families in the 1 km Kids’ Dash for parent-child teams.
Cash prizes, trophies and sponsored products await the top three winners across all divisions—so do your best! For the not so ambitious, you can also enjoy attractive goodie bags with specially-designed running tees and an array of sponsors’ merchandises, too. What’s more, everyone gets to join in the carnival-like activities in the game village at OCC driving range.
