International Earth Day is held worldwide on 22 April to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.
The global theme for 2014 is “Green Cities”, focusing on having cities around the world become more sustainable and reducing their carbon footprint.
Open For Ages 9 And Above
In Kuala Lumpur, the International Earth Day Run is also being held to observe the International Mother Earth Day. The Run is open for participation to all who are aged 9 years and above. The 10Km Fun Run would be held on 20th April 2014 at the Sports Arena, University Malaya.
Learning To Love The Environment: Bring A Free Plant Home To Nurture
The event is organized by Asia World Events in collaboration with the University of Malaya and sponsored by International Travel Insurer Cover-More, the run is also supported by Malaysia Airlines and KL International Jazz and is held in collaboration with University Malaya. After the run, each participant would be given a free plant to take home and plant at their homes, courtesy of HSBC Amanah Takaful.
The second edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Earth Day Run will held on 20th April 2014 at the Sports Arena, University Malaya.
