The International Medical University (IMU) Chariofare Charity Run supports the idea of running for a social cause. The aim is to raise funds to support the university’s charity partners, so that they can continue to serve and care for the disadvantaged members of society.
IMU has organised a series of community-oriented activities under the banner of “IMU Cares” since 2001. Following the success of IMU Chariofare 2013 – an event of fun for charity, the university will once again be organising the IMU Chariofare 2014 with the tagline “Live.Run.Love.”
IMU Chariofare 2014 consists of a Charity Run and Carnival dedicated to raising funds for 4 beneficiaries, namely: Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan Penang Hospice Society, Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-kanak Cacat Taman Megah (PPKKCTM), Dignity for Children Foundation and IMU Cares Disaster Fund.
Race Categories and Goodies
The IMU Chariofare Run 2014 has 4 categories open for registration. There will be the 7km Individual Men’s and Women’s Open Category, as well as a 3km Fun Run.
A Team Challenge is also available, where teams of 5 must begin and end the run together. This will be recorded as the finishing time for the team. The top 5 winning teams will be allowed to elect their own NGO to be the beneficiary of their respective prizes, with the top prize being RM$5,000.
Runners will also be entitled to a New Balance Mibrofiber DryFit Round Neck T-Shirt, a goodie bag including a coupon for light breakfast after the run, and more.
About the Carnival
What’s an event without food, games and a whole lot of fun? Accompanying IMU’s Chariofare Charity Run, the carnival will aim to entertain and satisfy you with an array of performances, activities and of course, food. All profits raised from the carnival will be donated to the four beneficiaries.
You will be able to enjoy a variety of food stalls run by IMU students and staff. Some well-loved big names in the food industry will be arranged around the campus too.
Various healthcare products as well as items of convenience will also be sold. Medical, dental, and traditional Chinese Medicine health checkups will also be available for you to squeeze in between games or meals.
Engaging games and activities such as face painting and even yoga classes will be run by IMU students for the whole family to enjoy. Performances full of music and dance are guaranteed to keep you entertained throughout the event.
The IMU Chariofare Charity Run and accompanying carnival will be held on 20 September at the International Medical University at Bukit Jalil. Early bird registrations close on 1 July.
