From 9 March to 1 April 2018, Marina Bay area is lighted up with 22 fascinating light art installations as well as various activities. The sixth edition of the sustainable light art festival features installations created by local and international artists.
So, how can you get fit at i Light Marina Bay 2018?
1. Run at Marina Bay
Your run at Marina Bay will not be the same anymore during i Light Marina Bay 2018, because you’ll get to run through all 22 enthralling light art installations while clocking 5km mileage! Start your run at The Promontory and run either clockwise around the bay. During your run, don’t miss out our recommended installations:
a. With Love… (Location: Clifford Pier)
Created by French artist Franck Pelletier, this installation represents the heartbeat of the city. So let this giant beating heart get your blood pumping as you start you run!
b. Elements of Life (Location: Merlion Park)
Before you head into Esplanade Park, look at how colourful our Merlion is thanks to Malaysian artist Flex Chew as he visually narrates the universe’s basic elements; Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
c. Evergreen (Location: ArtScience Museum)
Be sure to see Evergreen, by award-winning projection mapping collective Limelight, illuminate the ArtScience museum! Hint: The best views of this installation are from the Helix Bridge.
d. Passage (Location: Lower Boardwalk)
Not just one of the most instagrammable artworks, let Passage be your finishing line for the night! Moving through the tunnel activates light animations and sounds.
e. MailboX (Location: Marina Boulevard)
Tweet with the #ilightmarinabay to see it displayed on this installation (and let everyone know your new personal best time) Or, you can shout with joy to activate the lights on this installation too.
f. Chandelier of Spirits (Location: Breeze Shelters)
After your run, relax under this installation by Thai art collective Living Spirits. Made from recycled cold brew coffee bottle, and representing Singapore’s hard-working workforce, enjoy a post-run stretch under this installation after all your hard work.
2. Fitness By The Bay @ GastroBeats
Fitness By The Bay is a series of mass workouts that aims to provide an opportunity for participants to spend time with their loved ones as well as embark on free mass workouts including various types of yoga and fitness workouts. Registration is required prior to attending the event. The sessions are held on 14 March, 21 March, 24 March, 28 March at various timings.
3. Seeds of Light 2018
Enjoy a unique sunset yoga experience at Seeds of Light 2018. This yoga session will be held on 23 March 2018, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lower Boardwalk. Open for yogi of all levels, this session will take place with the changing hues of the sunset and city skyline as backdrop.
4. Outta Hatha x I Light Marina Bay 2018: “Mindfulness” Pop-Up Series
Outta Hatha presents two Saturday evenings (24 March and 31 March) of mindful sunset yoga practice at Clifford Square. 50% of all proceeds from this series will be donated to Gyanada Foundation – an NGO working towards a better future by opening the doors for quality education for girls in India.
Walk-in rate is $20 for each class. You can also use the Outta Hatha class card, which can be purchased on the spot or via the website. Cash donation to Gyanada is welcome. if it is your first time at an Outta Hatha class or event, do self-register before the event. As these are pop-up sessions, bring your own mat, towel and water bottle! Event is on, rain or shine. Arrive early to grab the best spots!
5. Illumi Fest Run 2018
At the final weekend of the festival, join the exciting Illumi Fest Run where you get to run and being splashed with Glow Water as you dance through the different ultraviolet zones. This home-grown party run took a hiatus in 2017 but it’s now back, so don’t miss this one of a kind run. Illumi Village opens at 4 p.m. while the flag off is scheduled at 7 p.m.
6. Prudential Marina Bay Carnival
Whether you are looking for adrenaline-pumping adventure or an opportunity to spend quality family time, there’s something for everyone at Prudential Marina Bay Carnival. Held from 15 December 2017 to 1 April 2018, the carnival takes place at The Promontory, from 4 to 11 p.m. Here are 8 reasons why Marina Bay Carnival will guarantee you a hell of a fun time.
