HCSA Community Services (HCSA), a dedicated social service agency, today unveiled the return of the ‘Everesting for Second Chances’ event, sponsored by BikeBaju, Southeast Asia’s cycling apparel brand. This event, which started today with a fellowship ride at Mount Faber, marks BikeBaju’s first foray into sponsoring an event in Singapore.
HCSA has set a robust fundraising target of $500,000 to provide ex-offenders with essential residential and rehabilitative support to aid their reintegration into society. This year, the event is expanding to include a Family Carnival on 29 June 2024, promising a mix of physical and virtual challenges for up to 30 participants.
The carnival, supported by Yellow Ribbon Singapore, the Singapore Cycling Federation, and the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, will feature stage performances, food stalls, games, and a flea market, creating a vibrant atmosphere of community and support.

Cycling to New Heights for a Good Cause
This year’s ‘Everesting for Second Chances’ cycling challenge is unique as participants aim to conquer the height equivalent to Mount Everest (8,848 meters) by pedaling, symbolising the overcoming of significant challenges. This is the only cycling event designed to bolster community support for ex-offenders and their families.
New Partnerships and Community Engagement
BikeBaju’s role as the official apparel sponsor represents a significant partnership, aiming to raise visibility for second chances through community engagement and social responsibility.
“We are thrilled to join forces with HCSA for ‘Everesting for Second Chances’ because we strongly believe in the cause. Helping ex-offenders gain visibility for second chances aligns with our business-social mission of encouraging people to ‘Stand Out & Be Seen’ and reflects our deep commitment to leveraging our platform for social good,” said Yim Wai Soon, Director of BikeBaju.
Andrew Ong, Director of Partnerships and Strategic Communications at HCSA, added, “BikeBaju’s focus on community and social responsibility makes them an ideal partner for this initiative, enhancing our mission to empower vulnerable groups and emphasising the critical role of community support in the reintegration process.
Join the Everesting for Second Chances Challenge
Registration for the challenge opens on 24 April and features early bird discounts until 7 May. Participants can engage in an indoor event for an additional fee, which includes amenities like meals, onsite guidance, and medical support.
HCSA encourages both individuals and organisations to contribute to the ‘Everesting for Second Chances’ campaign. Each donation, regardless of size, helps build a more inclusive society and supports the comprehensive reintegration services provided by HCSA Highpoint, crucial in reducing Singapore’s recidivism rate.
Proceeds will directly support HCSA’s mission to empower ex-offenders on their journey back into society.
