In celebration of sport, youth and human potential, Nike brings the best in product innovations and digital sport to the heart of Southeast Asia. The Nike+ innovation space is a showcase of design and technology, where inspiration meets innovation, allowing visitors to discover and interact with products, and to be part of ‘Game On, World’.
Visitors will be able to view some of Nike’s most revolutionary performance innovations that will be featured at this year’s greatest sporting event, including the Nike Pro TurboSpeed and Nike Zoom Spikes that will be used in Track & Field competitions, and the revolutionary Nike Flyknit technology.
Through Nike’s global activation, visitors can run to log the most miles for one’s city by running at the innovation space as part of ‘Game On, World’ (#gameonworld). Involving Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia, the challenge will pit country against country in the total miles clocked via Nike+ Running apps (available on iPhone and Android).
Runners in Singapore can clock miles by participating in events held in the duration of the showcase, with activities such as Friday night’s Lunar Run, the Youth Challenge for schools, and Goddess Night for ladies every Wednesday. Runners can also ‘RUN TO GIVE’, which will see Nike contributing a pair of shoes to AG Home for Girls for every 20km clocked.
In addition to sports, visitors can expect artistic inspirations of Nike with a commissioned art installation titled “Switch Head Island” by Thai artist Torlarp Larpjaroensook aka Hern, created with used Nike footwear, apparel and other recycled organic materials. “Switch Head Island” features his signature Bestto Boys, providing solar-powered light to the ecological utopia. The piece pays tribute to Nike Better World, Nike’s ethos in serving the needs of the athlete and the planet at the same time.
Selected products will be available at the Nike pop-up store within the Nike+ innovation space along with the latest collections.
The Nike+ innovation space ends on 12 August 2012, and is located at 180 Orchard Road, Peranakan Place Level 2. It is open daily from 11am – 10pm. Admission is free.
