Some of the finer things in life don’t always have to come attached with monetary clauses. Self-gratification (because that’s what it is) can also be achieved with blood, sweat and tears, like say, a personal best in a race. The effect’s all the more accentuated when we talk about marathons – the holy grail of running events. But what if we told you attaining that personal best could set you up for a monetary reward? Perhaps some extra motivational enticement could do the trick to break the exhaustion barrier. Well, we’re for real actually. The people at 100PLUS have initiated a campaign called Rewrite Your Number.
Held in conjunction with the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore – the pinnacle of Singapore’s race calendar, the Rewrite Your Number challenge awards cold hard cash to contestants with the fastest timings clocked at respective distances.
There are nine prizes up for grabs which comprise the fastest three finishes in the 10-kilometre, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon distance:
- 1st prize – S$300
- 2nd prize – S$200
- 3rd prize – S$100
If you’re already participating, then just sign up for it! No harm right? You may register at www.facebook.com/100PLUSAsia. Remember to do so before 3 December 2011 though, or run to regret.
Bonus: 100PLUS RunMaster Application
The 100PLUS RunMaster application for the iPhone and iPod is every runner’s personal digital running trainer. Developed with marathon professionals, the app is designed to help runners improve their running game. Beginners can choose from a prescribed training programme while advanced runners can use its multi-function and user-friendly interface to track their runs.
It’s available FREE at the Apple iTunes store!
