The 123rd Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, 15 April 2019 in conjunction with Patriots’ Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Boston Marathon is a highly competitive race where only the fastest runner in their gender and age group will earn a slot.
The qualification window for Boston Marathon 2019 began on Saturday, 16 September 2017 and will remain open until the conclusion of registration for the Boston Marathon 2019. That means if you participated in any qualifying race and met the qualifying time, you are eligible to apply for the Boston Marathon 2019.
However, do take note that only the fastest runner will be given an entry space.
Start and finish line
The Boston Marathon will be starting on Main Street in the rural New England town of Hopkinton and ends near the John Hancock Tower in Copley Square.

Achieving one’s qualifying standard does not guarantee an entry into the event. It is simply an opportunity to submit for registration.
Qualifying Races
Boston Marathon qualifying times must be run at an event that has a certified marathon course. The race courses must be certified by USATF and AIMS, or a national governing body for distance running for the country in which the race is held.
Some of the AIMS certified races that are close to home include Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, Kuching Marathon, Borneo Marathon, Standard Chartered KL Marathon, Danang International Marathon, Maybank Bali Marathon and many more!
Online Registration
Registration will be held entirely online at www.baa.org. The registration date for Boston Marathon 2019 begins at 10 a.m. eastern on Monday, 10th September 2018. However, not everyone can sign up at the start.
Based on the registration for Boston Marathon 2018,
Week 1 of registration:
- Registration is open for runners who have met the qualifying standard by 20 minutes or more.
- If there is still space, the registration will be open for runners who have met the qualifying standard by 10 minutes or more.
- If there is still space, the registration will be open for runners who have met the qualifying standard by 5 minutes or more.
- Registration for week 1 will end.
Week 2 of registration:
- If space remains, registration will reopen for all qualifiers.
Entry fee
For qualifying United States residents, the entry fee will be US$180.
For international residents, the entry fee will be US$240.
