More than 3,600 participants took part in the second edition of the Energizer Singapore Night Trail at Lorong Asrama, Mandai.
The fun began just after 3pm with children and adults tackling a range of obstacles including a cargo net, giant stepping stones and a rope challenge (Parent and Child- 1.5/3km; Open-3km). The fastest runners completed the 3km distance in around 16 minutes.
As darkness began to fall, the luminous-green event t-shirts started to shine brightly under the Energizer head-lamps and the jungle trails were filled with thousands of runners across the 6km, 12km and 18km categories.
Navigating the natural obstacles of the jungle this time, and the added sensory challenge of the darkness gave runners a unique racing experience in Singapore.
Throughout the day the carnival area entertained participants and supporters of all ages with activities including a giant inflatable slide, photo booth and free ice cream and refreshments! To get everyone ready, Fitness First led a lively choreographed warm-up for each category.
Official charity for the event was the Singapore Disability Sports Council. Four of their athletes plus one member of staff took part in the 6km and 12km trail races. Over S$7,000 has been raised through participants giving, a donation from every registration fee and all proceeds from the carnival treasure hunt which ran all day.
