The 12th Khon Kaen International Marathon will be held on Sunday, 25 January 2015 at Khon Kaen University, Khon Kaen, Thailand.
Organised by the Khon Kaen University Alumni Association and dubbed as the greatest marathon of Thailand, the town is packed with beautiful buildings rich in culture and history and breath-taking scenery. Runners will also get to experience many Buddhist temples in Khon Kaen, and notably Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon, also known as Wat Nong Wang along the race route.
After the race, runners can visit the various local attractions such as the Ubolratana Dam and Bang Saen II beaches, Phu Wiang National Park, Ban Khok Sa-nga king cobras village and Prasat Pueai Noi. The panoramic view of the town from Wat Nong Wang temple is something that surely shouldn’t be missed.
The race has been officially sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the Athletic Association of Thailand (IAAF Rules).
There will be 4 categories for the event which comprises of the marathon, half marathon, mini marathon (11.55km), and the Walk & Fun run (4.5km).
To encourage running among elderly, anyone aged 70 years old and above can join the race for free, and for those aged 60 years, the entry price will be halved.
The marathon will first flag off at 4:15 a.m. and the last to flag off will be the Walk & Fun Run at 8:00 a.m.
