Encounter Wonderful Sights along The Ancient Khmer Path
Preparations for The Ancient Khmer Path starts on Friday, 28 November 2014, with an initial meeting of all participants in a 5 star hotel in Phnom Penh and will finish in Siem Reap on Saturday, 6 December.
The race route is projected to be 220km held over 6 days, and will start on 30 November 2014, 180km north of Phnom Penh. Most of the route is on off-road tracks with partly sandy ground, gravel or forest soil. Only in very few cases (mostly in the area of Angkor), will there be asphalted ground.
As an added challenge not seen in traditional marathons, plan out your race equipment and 6 days’ worth of supplies needed, as only cold/warm water and camp infrastructure will be provided.
Start the race in a Buddhist temple, where monks will be wishing you the best of luck for the race. Set up camp in ancient temples such as the Prasat Boeng Mealea Temple, which served as filming locations for the “Indiana Jones” movie series, and refresh your senses underneath 25 metre high waterfalls.
Run through temple ruins built more than 1,000 years ago and finish the race in front of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat!
With physical and mental endurance conquered, you can finally relax in a 5 star boutique hotel in Siem Riep, and join the awards banquet with an impressive local cultural show.
