Home-Grown Marathon Rises in Popularity
Starting with just 530 runners in 2008, the Borneo International Marathon has grown to more than 5,600 registered runners from 55 countries in 2013, gaining its popularity as ‘The Beautiful Run’ for the region.
Race Director Dr. Heng Aik Cheng is looking forward 2014’s event, which will be held on 4 May 2014.
“We are happy to announce that our little race is getting popular among the running community in Asia.”
The BIM 2014 is targeting 7,777 runners for the 2014 event, which is in its 7th year. There are 3 distances in the BIM, the marathon (42km), half-marathon (21km) and the 10km run.
Enjoy the Sights and Culture of the Malaysian Borneo
Proceeds from the BIM will go to 7 charitable bodies, including MERCY Malaysia and Borneo Child Aid Society.
With the Sabah Fest also happening as a tie-in event with BIM 2014, runners can get to enjoy the scenery and culture of Malaysian Borneo themselves.
